Hi Gerard,
I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but consider using code-39 as the barcode font. It's easier to manage than anything else. All you need to know is to precede and follow the coded information with the barcode character for asterisk (*). For example, if you want to print a barcode representing A123B56, you actually print *A123B56*.
That's all there is to it.
