Hi Ken, may I chime in here?

This makes sense, what you're saying here. It's likely exactly the way I would handle things if FoxPro were my product <g>

Someone somewhere along the line in this thread mentioned that the UTBL (if implemented) would need to clearly state that it was the UNofficial list.

The list would be invaluable to us as developers, so that we could maintain a common understanding of what we have to look out for in building our apps for our clients. Such knowledge is vital to us.

Mechanisms would have to be figured out to: 1) Make sure the 'bug' is really a reproducible bug, 2) Track whether and when the issue has been reported to you, and 3) Mark issues as resolved once they really are.

With the uniform reporting and awareness this would provide, I don't see how it could do anything but help everyone, including by extension the folks on the good ship Microsoft.

>>I have read some threads here on the UT that indicate that MS has asked you not to maintain a list of VFP bugs here on the UT. Is that correct?
>
>Microsoft never asked the UT not to list bugs. What we said is that it is not the way we track bugs and that the proper way for people to submit bugs to actually have them be fixed in the future is through our Microsoft support web site. You, the UT, or anyone is free to post anything you want and create any list you want.
>
>If you or anyone created a list, it would just be the same as a list of postings here, and nothing would be validated. Meaning, someone could post something that they think is a bug but is really something that is their mistake, by design, or just incorrect. So the list would not be all that meaningful and possible harmful to those who read it since it might not contain accurate information.
>
>The UT can create any list it wants, Microsoft has no control at all. We ask the UT to do things like the wish list to help the community and the VFP product itself and those things work very well.
