>I was getting Ole exception error codes. I even attempted to execute them directly from the command window. I'm still trying to understand this automation stuff. Since I'm not certain in how the order of routines should be executed, I moved some stuff around and it appears to work (for the most part). Thanks a bunch for your help!!!

I cannot directly recommend any book or web site because I didn't see them myself :) Marcia Akins, Tamar Granor, Della Martin has books about Ole Automation (not exactly sure but from msgs I remember there should be - probably you can find them on www.hentzewerke.com)
Jim Harvey might have a web site about Ole Automation - again my memory might not be serving well.

What I do myself is to use VBAXLx.CHM (x - version) and record macros in Excel when I need something new. Then I translate the macro code and I'm done. About translating the macro, Message #608856 might help.
PS: Selection property is maybe the property I hate most in Excel :) Macro recordings are generally always full of it. It's a property pointing to 'selected' object. In my VFP code I prefer not to select anything (unless needed) but instead try to use appropriate object directly.
