I'm fairly sure that if you go to 1.1 with VS.net 2002, you'll end up having both 1.0 and 1.1 on your system (clutter as far as I'm concerned).

VS.Net 2002 doesn't seem to recognize Framework 1.1. In fact, if you install 1.1 before installing VS.Net 2002, when you do install VS.Net 2002, it will insist on installing Framework 1.0.
