Hi Bonnie,

Actually, I was getting an error message (in a VB.NET Project) that - I'm working from memory here - The vb compiler couldn't be created. The .Net Framework directory could not be found.

I think it happened because I'd installed VS.Net 2002, and then went and uninstalled all the .Net Framework 1.0 stuff (the framework and the sdk) because I'd already installed the 1.1 Framework and sdk (prior to installing VS.NET).

I assumed there was a problem in VS.Net, so I tried to reinstall. That's when it insisted on installing the Framework 1.0. I couldn't get past step 1. I even tried uninstalling VS.NET completely and reinstalling - same deal. I also checked that 1.1 was ok, and even did a reinstall of that. Eventually, I had to allow the VS.NET installation to reinstall the Framework 1.0. Then everything worked ok, but then I had 2 framework sdk's on my system.

When the DVD with VS.NET 2003 arrived, I uninstalled 1.0 again, uninstalled VS.Net 2002, and installed VS.Net 2003. The installation jumped right to step 2, and the it all went fine.

You may be right about the order of things being important, but I swear, I'm not going to go through it all over again. Not even for you. ;-)

>By "not recognize", I assume you mean just in the installation process. I seem to remember some gotchas in the order in which things were installed. You probably have to install vs2002 first (and install the 1.0 Framework) before you attempt to install the 1.1 Framework.

>>>It was quite some time ago that we upgraded to 1.1 ... I'm pretty sure it was while we were still using vs2002, before we got the vs2003 beta, so I'll go out on a limb and say yes. Sometimes I forget things ... must be old age creeping in. <g> Maybe someone else can verify this for sure.
