I purchased a INSPIRON 5000 about 2 years ago. It's not a bad machine, but if I had to purchase a new one today I would look into something different.

Overall, my laptop is pretty heavy at 7 pounds. If you do any traveling at the airport I would purchase something that is light as possible. Other than that, make sure you purchase a quality bag that is padded. I cracked my laptop screen about a year after I purchased it and Dell wanted about $800 to fix it.
