Dave,

You are correct about Vegas. The hotel where Advisor is doing their Netware conference isn't on the strip (in fact, it's some distance from the strip), so I'm guessing it's quite reasonable. As for costs, the Feltman's have done their Fox Express conference in Vegas for several years now. One big reason they give for that location: it's inexpensive.

>I certainly respect your point of view. That is precisely why I expressed the opinion that holding the DevCon in Las Vegas and, consequently, deciding to attend or not would be a matter of personal feelings and values. It is not my attempt to "convert" you to MY side, but I would offer that, to some, it is just as depressing as seeing Florida attendees seeking "Corinthian leather" tans (almost) guaranteeing skin cancer problems in the future, or people doing jello shots or sampling EVERY beer in Milwaukee until they can't stand up, or watching people clog their arteries with Kansas City BBQ. Yet, all of those possibilities exist and are, once again, personal choices.

>Personally, I know that there are some conferences where I never leave the host hotel for the entire visit. Unfortunately, that MAY say more about my social skills than the need to experience the surrounding area. My suspicions are such that on such a Las Vegas conference that anyone, so desiring, could very easily manage to enjoy the benefits of a fine resort (nice rooms, swimming, all manners of gormet restaurants, shopping, possibly some first rate entertainment) WITHOUT ever setting foot in a casino.

>So, in summation, your honor, I would ask... Why are so many conventions and conferences held in Las Vegas. If Advisor Publications wants to see attendence at their VFP DevCon begin to increase, holding the conference in Las Vegas (or Reno - not as tacky) might be a viable solution which would be worth considering.
