Tom,

First of all, thank you for the answer. I apologize for not having answered at once. I am not using the UT to any extent and I could actually not find how to answer on a thread (yes, it's true).

The problem went away as we downgraded to Win98 on the computer where we had the problem with XP.

Now, we have had to upgrade the computers (with XP home edition) and I tried your program to see if that solved the problem.

When I run you program I get an error message that lafsize.prg does not exist. That happens in the line:

lnreccnt = INT((lafsize[2] - lnhdrsize) / lnreclngth)

Please help me with this, so I can try to see if this is the problem.

I am not convinced that it is, When other people are using the files I get this "not a database error" 80% of the time on a "line item" table or a "shipped" table, but now and then the files open without problem.

Thank you in advance
