>Bare with me, as I'm a newcomer to Visual FoxPro. I tried to run the call to GetExecutable() from my Command Window, and got an error message: GetExecutable.prg not found. Do I need to name the file with GetExecutable() method, GetExecutable.prg? Why isn't it working as you've stated.

Oh in that case comment the first line ("Function GetExecutable") and save as GetExecutable.prg
But read the other reply first. Do you really need to know executable's name. ie: Would it matter to you if they open MIL files with AutoCad or MySpeciALMILHandler.Exe.

Or to say it another way, jpg files might open with IE, PhotoEd, Adobe etc. whatever user registered. You don't need to know the executables name just tell system open a file with 'JPG' extension. It knows what to do with it if there is a program registered.
