If I understand correctly, you have problems only with setting the correct value into the combo box (your lengthy description)?
If I am correct, I need to know the type of combo box you are using (combo, dbcombo, ...) and the style property setting.

What I am having trouble with, is when the user goes to edit a record, I am trying to display the correct entry from table 2.
