I have a new HP xw 6000 dual xeon 2.4 ghz cpu, which is my development machine. It became flaky after a few days with things like loosing video and not turning off. Well, they had to replace the motherboard, one CPU and the power supply. They saved the cabinet and one CPU! :)

This reminded me of a comment from a friend that works at HP. At least he worked there a few months ago. Seems that at least one HP printer line dissolved its QC department. No incoming parts are tested and no printers are tested. All manufactured printers are boxed and sent to stores. The customer is the QC department. If your printer fails you are allowed to exercise your warranty and obtain a new printer.

Good by to all my files (I backed them up, he, he, he!). Well, back to ASP.NET and all that!

This reminds me of a software company I worked for. No SQA department! The president stated, “We have a great product! The customers will tell us if there are any problems”! Yes, the customers responded and the company is out of business!
