I believe you are on the right path.

In my port I have to massage a few VFP-screenobjects.
worked like a charm in the first few tries while running
under the debugger, but failed totally when running normally.

That points to wait state snafu's, anf I resolved it with
DoEvents, but the sleep API and a frustration born
Wait wind "Scheisse" timeout 0.1
worked as well.

I stay with doevents because it should take less time
if there are only few events to handle (my situation).

If there are no activeX controls involved, IMHO Doevents
is the better bet, but i can "hang" if you are using
treeview (either MS or dBi)
