I don't have experience with this, but I think it doesn't require only the second processor, but also a specially designed motherboard, right?
I think it is relatively safe to assume that a second processor (or a third or fourth one) will make your machine faster - but how much, and whether you really need this speed, this is something that can vary from case to case.
