Many functions and comands can be abbreviated to 4 characters. I think that this is a carry over from the original xbase style of coding. I normally do not use the abbreviated commands as it does make reading the code a little more cryptic and with intellisense, it should no longer be necessary as a shorthand way of coding. This ping function was writting by Josh Jassing and is one that I had downoaded and made some modification to it for my use. In this case CREA( is an abbreviation for CreateObject() function.
