Hi Hilmar. According to the network guys its absolutely necessary. Doing internal networking, WAN, web servers, etc. However I am not knowledgeable about networks myself. Which is a good thing as it leaves me to focus on the one or two things I am good at, like sitting and drinking coffee :)
