but it seems you are coding a workaround because the list can not be set to ReadOnly when you need it to be.>
>No, Mark, this is not a work around. Setting the column's ControlSource to a conditional statement makes it ReadOnly. The point is that I do not want the column to be ReadOnly if it is in a data entry grid. Using a drop down list in the ReadOnly column still allows my users to change the data < s >.
I know, but if that style of combo were allowed to be ReadOnly, you would not have the problem of users being able to change a value when you d onot want them to. I understand you have designed controls based on what the docs say about the combo. I have also done this, but I am not happy with how I have to do it. My point is what if I have values that users can select from a list but they are not allowed to add new values, but not all users have editing privileges? I have a need to set a dropdown list to ReadOnly for those who do not have editing privs. My only choice now is to disable this control for those users, while other data entry controls like text boxes, spinners and edit boxes, I can set the ReadOnly property to my goApp.lEditPriv property.
