Hi Tom.

>Have a table in the dbc and trying to add an index through Stonefield Explorer. Index is 4 charachter fields, each alltrimmed. After adding an index to bottom of list, entering the expression, then clicking on save the changes, I get an error message, tag lcvbs is invalid, database is invalid, please validate. click ok and all indexes for that table are wiped out.

There's likely a typo in the index expression, such as mistyping a field name or the word ALLTRIM. When SDT updates the indexes for a table, the first thing it does is nuke all the existing ones. It then recreates the indexes one by one. If the index expression for one of them is invalid, you get this error. At this point, the indexes for the tables are messed up *but* the meta data is still good (other than having the one bad index definition).

So, when you get this error in the Extended Table Designer, *do not* exit without saving your changes since the indexes will be gone (you can still use Reindex to recreate them). Instead, fix the problem and click on Save again.

To fix up your problem now, use the Reindex method, then bring up the Extended Table Designer and fix the offending index.
