I've been getting odd CPU pegs lately, and the common denominator seems to be that I have VS.NET running whenever it happens. It's completely random -- I'll click a link on a web page, press a button on MSPaint's settings dialog, Alt+Tab to an application, etc. -- and my CPU goes through the roof. All I can do is shake my fist and hit the reset button.

Wish I knew what it was...

BTW, I also have 512MB RAM, but I've been thinking about bumping that up to 1GB ECC -- I checked, and surprisingly it's not that much more expensive. I'm of the opinion that a development machine should always have ECC RAM.

>I think that depends... if the developer's machine has 512MB of RAM, I don't care about having 50MB for VS in memory... :)

>>>Take a look at the memory footprint in TaskManager between the VS and VFP. On my box VFP8 = 7.4mb (the taskpane doubles it), VS = 31mb without any projects/code open.
