Randy,

Check the references for the project for the form. Whenever I've had this error happen, it's always been because VS did something funky with the references (usually it has added an extra one with the wrong name). You may have to remove the reference (to the project that has your toolbar control) and add it back in again. Then everything should be fine.

>In VB.NET, what are the steps for creating and editing a user control that will be added to the Tool Box tool bar? I am creating a tool bar for the richtextbox control. I started out just adding the controls for font and bold capability (no code). When I built the project, .net automatically added it to the tool box. I added the control to a form and everything checked out. I reopened the user control and added some code, built the project again. But this time when I opened the form where I had placed the control I got the error Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I assume I am not following the proper steps, since no errors showed during the build. Thanks for the help.
