>I am preparing an application for distribution on a network. My development machines are not networked, so my best way to simulate this is to load it on two different drives accessing my data from a separate external drive, which kind of works and kind of doesn't. I know the setup routine has a "button" that says network, but I can't tell what it's supposed to do until I load it on an actual network machine (argh!). My question is...when will I be able to tell the app where to look for the data? And is there a way to fake it out first so I don't look like a moron at the client site? Thanks, m :)
Hi Martha,
How does your application know where to look for data now?
Do you have a path statement coded into your Main program? Do you store something in a little table that will live in the application's directory on the client machines?
Ultimately there are many ways to tell Fox where to look for data, and a lot depends on how your app is written.
