It's true that Rod got more laughs when he presented his .NET seminar at Essential Fox in Kansas City, at least from my perspective. Maybe passive receptivity is just the Southern California culture. (?????)

On the other hand, I just attended a session on XML given by Toni Feltman. The room was packed and many people had questions, or exhibited strange behavior.

Regarding the heat, I am sitting in the meeting room in slacks and a relatively thick polo shirt, and am about to freeze my aching hindquarters off. The breakfast outdoors this morning was fairly heated, but not overwhelming.

Many of the attendees are older than me (41) but there are a lot of kids too. Given that such a large portion of this conference, the premiere FoxPro conference, is given over to straight .NET, I have to wonder how long the younger generation will be able to use their FoxPro skills.

I know this message is rambling, but forgive me as I stayed up late last night working on the UT report and am just quasi-conscious. Be sure to visit the DevCon 2003 report page and the picture archive where a photo of Rod and his fiancee can be found.

>Craig,
> I was at devcon yesterday. It seemed dead to me compared to other conferences. I was there strictly for the pre-con.

>375 for the major foxpro conference is pathetic. It has been a steady decline for the last 5 years and I dont see how it can be much better. THis is the first devcon after the VFP8 release and in my estimation it should be better attended.

>People will make excuses why this conference was so poorly attended. I would attribute it to 2 major ones and a couple of minor ones:

>1. The major decline in #'s of foxpro users/developers.
>2. Corporate america can't justify spending the $$$ to invest in a product that they have deemed is on life support.
