Hello Mark,

Haven't been to any of those conferences, but the other conferences do appear to offer a much better value.

The following opinions are not my own :)

Quoting Steve: "Ignoring for a moment that the aggregate yearly VFP conference attendance isn't down much (see VFPConferenceAttendance)"

Also: "Note that this is a comparison between the VFP conference with the worst attendance drop. All the regional VFP conferences are doing much, much better than this. Some, in fact, run at or near capacity."

The point being (as I read it) that the worst conference decline for VFP tracks similarly with Comdex, therefore he claims you can not use Devcon attendance to say that VFP itself is on a big downslide.

Which part of his analysis do you find fault with?

>Steve's analysis is total crap. He compares the VFP attendance for 1 conference. If you take the attendance figures for all the major VFP conferences for the last 10 years, the attendance figures are steady and show a slight increase. The reason for the Advisor DevCon collapse is the outlandish cost as you pointed out earlier. I used to go to Advisor DevCons, but have not in the last 3 years for that primary reason. The value sucks. I have been to Essential Fox this year and am going to WhilFest in the fall. My cost for both will still be less than what it would cost me for the Advisor DevCon.
