I can tell you how it's handled in the Mere Mortals framework. Each business object has a "primary" table that it's associated with. It's the one that the bizobj can update/edit/delete records from. However, it can also contain any number of lookup tables that might required for the bizobj to do what it does.

If you need to update/edit/delete the lookup list table (via some sort of maintenance form), you would probably create a new bizobj for it.
