Whoops, I was comparing the wrong numbers. Sorry.

All it says is that 8.0 performs better on the AMD for the reasons I specified.

Windows is running the show. VFP runs because Windows allows it. VFP still must process any Windows messages it receives during the iteration.

It's the reason why 8.0 performs better on the AMD. That was your question, and I answered it.

The compiler doesn't target a specific CPU. It targets a specific CPU standard. It's the CPU, not the compiler.
