It isn't necessary. Whether right or wrong, many Americans believe that the only way to ensure peace is to be the strongest, mightiest in the world (peace through might). I hate to add here what some extremists think as well....I believe you will find believers of just about anything in all countries. The sad part is that it appears to the world that the U.S. doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks and that just is not so. Hopefully one day soon our leaders will reflect that instead of the opposite.
