Markus,

I appreciate the support you give to the community. Not just by your DevCon participation, but in many other ways.

>That would be an interesting approach. Unfortunately, Microsoft has very little to do with DevCon. And for Advisor, this is all about making money.

>I think it would be interesting to have DevCon for $50 or $100 per day (days could be purchased individually) and at a hotel where rooms go for less than $100 per day. I think this would be a very interesting approach.

>Of course on the other hand, the large conferences like TechEd and PDC are even more expensive than DevCon. But then again, there are several hundred speakers and 400 or 500 sessions (13-15 at the same time). And of course, at these shows, there are between 5000 and 10000 attendees.
>
>From a speaker and vendor POV, attendee numbers are all that counts. Going to DevCon these days is mostly about supporting the community. For this years DevCon, we made a quite large investment. We had Mac Rubel, Chuck Urwiler, and myself as speakers there. We had a double-sized booth. Also, many of our associates were there (Rick, Kevin, Rod,...). Did any of this make sense business-wise? No. There is no way to make the economics work anymore.
>
>Other conferences make a lot more sense. We probably invested $40,000 - $50,000 into TechEd this year (got some of it back through sponsors though...). We will make an even larger investment in PDC. But DevCon? Well, it was one of the first big conferences I spoke at, so I have an emmotional attachment. But it is getting harder and harder. But what if we as well as our close associates would pull out? Not a good message to send for the entire fox community. And it wouldn't be because of fox itself, but simply because the numbers do not make much sense...

>So anything that gets the numbers up would be fine with me. It may make future decission making much easier...
