Hi Dan,

>As long as you're aware of the performance implications, I don't see a problem. Just remember, users will blame YOUR APPLICATION if it slows under load. You can try all the explaining you like about different databases, but it's still YOUR APPLICATION (in their eyes) that is slow. ;-)

<lol> Thanks for reminding that! You got a point there. By the way, is there any way that I could evaluate SQL Server (in this case: MSDE) database from VFP? I mean, from the log or something? I'm thinking to have my_apps warn the user to upgrade to SQL Server if the performance goes down bellow my_apps' tolerance (_not_ user tolerance).

Ah... too bad. I did a research several months ago to make Fox 2.x for DOS read and write data from SQL Server. I created a small apps to check the existance of text file containing a query in specific directory, and then pass the query to the SQL Server. The result was then passed back to the 'client' as a dbf table. Unfortunately the research hasn't finished yet. I was stumbled with error handling (and conflict handling) and I decided to abandon the project.
