Ok thanks.. In my case the index is simple on a char field..
index on logorder to logorder
index on no_in_row to no_in_row

What I do now is rebuild the indexes every place this error gets thown
which seems to fix the problem (for now). But now they have seen it in some other forms as well.

I tried to search for a microsoft knowledge base issue on the problem
but nothing yet.
