I'm not exactly sure what you tried Garrett ...

I implied that it was not logical to lock a (new) buffered record, and since it didn't raise an error, it's actually anybody's guess as to what VFP actually does when you issue a command that normally only operates on "real" records vs "virtual" records (ie. "trying to lock").
