Jim,
As you can see by some of the posts on this thread. .NET jobs seem to be in much greater demand than fox jobs. I dont see this changing.

Now lets get a few things straight. You think that I assume that .NET will be a raging success. No, I KNOW that it will. If you knew me at all you would know that I am a gambling man (thanks charles hankey) and I'll take a bet on this one. MSFT doesn't make too many mistakes and they stand by their convictions. Lets take a look at a few items: SQL Server Yukon will support .NET, Office is being .NET enabled. These are just a few. Who know where else .NET will show up next. It wont be on the discount rack with VFP books I guarantee you that.

Second you talk about my good friend. You must be referring to JVP. Well yes he does believe that the foxpro market is in decline. As a matter of fact so do I, as well as a number of fox MVP's I know personally. Just because we share the same opinion doesn't mean that I have some axe to grind. As a matter of fact I have been a big proponent of using other technogies for some time. A few items that I have presented/introduced at a number of Fox conferences include: SQL Server, Cold Fusion, .NET and ASP. I have always been consistent in my message. You should learn and use other technologies. If VFP works fine with you for all your needs then that is great. Some people believe that VFP is the perfect solution for all problems, I happen to be one of the ones that doesn't subscribe to this notion and NEVER HAVE! Ask anyone who knows me and you'll get the same answer.

I don't think that a general improvement of the economic situation will help VFP. Is there work out there in VFP? Absolutely! I have been seeing a few jobs coming up now and then. Is there going to be a growth that pulls this thing out. Probably not. I don't feel that anything will revive the VFP market.

Also, glad you know where I stand in relation to VFP. Hopefully this message clears up any misconceptions you may have.

Thanks,
Rodman
