Just a bit about said company:

We got a new IT Director who was an Access/Power Builder person. I showed him what I was doing with VFP (December 1995) and he canceled the Power Builder projects- we went VFP.

A few weeks later on a Friday afternoon our manager was fired – with no explanation. Monday the CFO was fired. At our Tuesday 0800 meeting the new CFO barged in and introduced himself. “I am a personal friend of the president of the company and I came out of retirement to straighten things out. First I will fire all of you programmers, as I do not believe in computers. Then I will hire 40 typists and buy 40 typewriters and make a profit”!

At 0900 I called a friend and arranged for an interview at 1200. By 1300 I was hired and gave two weeks notice. Two weeks after I left the pp company all 40 programmers and IT personal were fired. The CFO kept his word.

The moral of the story is to try to keep one step ahead of the pp in life. :)
