Yes, the path stored in the Form's DE is the Start_in directory for the development environment. I made sure this was not a valid location for a DBC in the beta environment today and things seemed to work. I appreciate your help and assurance that the technique does indeed work!

The only problem was with the code that creates the DBC and this was to be expected. In addition to the remote views, the DBC contains a single local view based on a table in the AccPac accounting system (a VFP7 table in a VFP7 DBC.) The code that Gendbc creates must customized for each of the environments (development, beta and production) in order for the DBC script to locate the table. This will become maintenance nigtmare and it won't be long before I ship the wrong version to somebody so I need to find a better solution. Also, the IT folks keep moving files around and that doesn't make the job any easier!
