I assume you want to decrease load time, rather than increase it :)
Having the .exe on the local drive can speed things up, and a loader certainly helps with managing this.
It sounds like the application was designed to have a data path relative to the application itself. Is there a global object or variable that can be changed so the data path points to a specific place on the network?
