>>Are you (Bill & Craig) saying that I need to get VB Script to have my VFP program be able to add a contact record in Outlook? Or is it that the commands use Script's variance, and not VBA? (FYI, I've ordered the book Erik mentioned straight from MS Press--should get it in a few days.) In my admittedly sophomoric viewpoint, it seems to me that there should be some command structure that allows one to add a record (I've gotten that part) and replace the data in the record with variables without too much trouble. I just need to change the value of, say, the First Name field to say "John," or "Mary," or whatever. I've gotten the rest of it. There's nothing straightforward in the help file that addresses this, though I used it and other Universal Thread messages to build the code I have so far.

>Sorry to be so late in this thread, but I have been adding contacts through VFP for some time and have had no problems once I overcame a few sticking points. VFP does communicate to outlook well, but Microsoft has confirmed a bug that has yet to be fixed, when you add a new contact the email and phone numbers show up ok in the contact, but they are not registered properly inside outlook. MS work around for this is to modify each new record manually changing the email address and the phone number then changing it back. Save the record and then everything should be registered properly inside outlook. Stupid huh, but they indicate it should be fixed in a release or two. They claimed it is a bug in their inport programs, the same functions you will call from VFP.

>What I use this for is when a person registered for accesss to our web site, they enter registration data. Once they save the registration data, our web program rights that data to a table. 3 times an hour a VFP program processes the table to see if any new registrations have occured. If there are new ones then the VFP program calls outlook using the outlook object and creates a new contact for me and emails me with pertentant data for me to process their registration.

>If you would like me to email you the code in VFP that I use to do this, just let me know. Also you mentioned the number codes that are used by a VFP to outlook program, I can send you my office.h file that I use to track these.

Outlook 98 is due for release next month. Hopefully they fixed this bug.
