Bill;

Sorry to hear about the layoffs! I have been through so many. I did not know Orlando was having problems.

By the way I went through Hurricane Donna - September 1960. Or did Hurricane Donna go through me? :)

Tom

>Hey Tom,

>>Great to talk to you!. I wish we could sit down and talk! I had lots of friends in Orlando. Some were radio amateurs as I am. I had a friend that worked for the City of Orlando, Herb Castle. My NCOIC from the Air Force retired in Orlando. We were stationed in Kansas City (Richards-Gabeur) together. I have to contact you off line to tell you some of the stories.

>I work for the City of Orlando, but there are a lot fewer of us today than 2 weeks ago. 144 laid off, 8 from IT, 1 from my team specifically

>>While at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, we were about to pay for our tickets when we noticed threatening clouds above. The two giggling girls taking the patrons money said, “Gee, I hope it rains so they will close down the park”! I said, “If they close the park due to rain do they give refunds”? “No, was the reply”! I asked, “What does DisneyWorld do in Orlando during the summer? Do they just close the park everyday”? They had no clue what I was talking about.

>Our storms are fierce but quick, usually only last for a few minutes. The big exception being hurricanes and tropical storms. Disney World has only been closed twice in the 30 plus years of operation, once for a Hurricane and on Sept 11th 2001. Feel free to email me!
