We are working on a data conversion for a client that has an old Unix-based system. A consultant is supposed to pull the data into a readable format for us (using IQ Report Writer, I think), but she has been dragging her feet on this for over a year. We would like to take a shot at reading the files ourselves. We are unsure of the data format, but we suspect it is a COBOL derivative. I thought by looking at the file names, someone here might have a clue. The filenames are short, and I think they work together in some fashion to represent what we would consider a table. Here is the pattern for the filenames:

A.D20, B.D20, C.D20, ..., K.D20
A.D30, B.D30, C.D30, ..., K.D30
A.D31, B.D31, C.D31, ..., K.D31
...

I figure the *.D20 files somehow work together to store the data, but I'm not sure. All of the "A" files are small and the same size, so I suspect they may be a type of header file. The same goes for the "C", "D", and "J" files. The rest vary in size. Does this look familiar to anyone? If we can determine the format, I think we can figure out how to convert the data.
