You can get third-party tools that deal with this. Check out the tool named "Cryptor" from Xitech at: http://www.xitech-europe.co.uk/

VFP 8.0 include a new class in the Foundation Classes that access the Windows API encryption routines (there is an example of its use at ...\Samples\Solution\FFC\Crypto.scx). But I have not investigated exactly what this can do.
