>Is it possible to be an MVP in more than one area? I personally think these gurus qualify for both VFP and C# (and probably a few others).

>Yes, one can be and in fact all of us are...

>I think people are reading way too much into this simple announcement. I don't think it changes anything in the way any of us have been operating for the last year, year and a half.

What people are reading into this is due to the original 'simple' anouncement that Jim Duffy put up here - And I quote -
Congrats to Markus Egger, Rick Strahl, Cathy Gero, and Kevin McNeish for their being awarded MVP status with C#!

hmmmm... VFP just lost 4 very prominent MVPs. Any thoughts on that??? Does that help anyone see the writing on the wall?
As much respect as I have for Jim, I have to say that his second paragraph was just plain smug and pointless (not to mention misleading). The first paragraph was enough for a 'simple' announcement.

I do agree with you though that there is certainly nothing to be gained by stagnation, and learning new technologies is worthwhile.

Alan

I can only speak for myself as a developer that I see changes in the way our sector of the market works and as a software developer that provides training and sells software to developers I have to update my skill set to be up to date and at this time in my estimation that means to be familiar with .Net technologies.

>I can only tell you that I'm still spending plenty of time with VFP although I also spend a fair amount of time working in .Net. This doesn't mean I'm deserting VFP in any way, nor do I think that everybody has to migrate to .Net. But I perceive .Net to be too important to ignore.
