Hi Perry,

Not much I can add to that... seems someone has picked up a hammer and hit the nail on the head.

>Just maybe people like him feel compelled because others refuse to acknowledge the fact that VFP is in decline.
>
>Folks can complain as much as they want about MS pulling the rug out. One year pushing COM as the way all development is going, 2 years later saying COM is no longer supported....etc, etc. That is the nature of this industry. There are many articles about people burning out in the IT industry after 10-15 years because of the need to constantly inhance their knowledgebase to keep up.

>I feel you have 3 choices....1) Go with the flow and keep your skillset up to date with the latest technology, 2) Get out of the industry or at least no longer call yourself a developer or 3) Be comfortable with the fact that you will retire soon, or that you will be fine being the developer hidden in the corner to maintain some legacy app that noone else cares about.

>I don't really need people here to tell me how the industry is. I figured that out on my own. Up to about 1996, recruiters were all excited to see my resume. Since then they started telling me how the VFP requirement was to help rewrite an app in VB or Delphi. These are VFP jobs that once the job is done, are gone forever.

>Why do you have a problem with someone educating others? Don't you think that someone in a trainers position such as Duffy, can pass some valuable information to others based on their vantage point?
>
>You have Jim Duffy telling you his class enrollment is down. You have Rick Strahl telling you sales of Web Connection aren't what they used to be.
>
>It seems to me, these people are only stating the obvious. But they get slammed for it. I do think it's comical.
