>Whether you like it or not, Jim Nelson's point(s) are valid and stem from a genuine affection for VFP.

That's part of the problem... I love VFP too but I think I would be being foolish to NOT explore other directions in the software development industry.

>Duffy bashes VFP as "not a real database" whenever he can; always with a smiley or a big grin or a joke of some description, so the casual lurker is never too sure if he *really* means it.

Oh I really mean it when I say SQL Server is a much better data storage platform that VFP. (no smiley face here)

>Yet he is quite happy to take developer's $$$ to provide his VFP "award winning training". Duffy's message may be consistent but his motives remain somewhat suspect.

Oh please... I can count the number of national prominent training companies that offer VFP training on less than one hand. Don't you think I'd be sending a different message to people who have invested in VFP code if we dropped our VFP training all together. We won't. I am as committed to helping the VFP community today as I was 5 years ago. Whether that "helping" comes in the form of suggesting people migrate their data to SQL Server, by suggesting that their long term interests might be well served by expanding their development toolset, or by just helping someone learn how to develop applications in VFP, I'm planning on helping for as long as I can.
