If you enter in the Column's Controlsource the name of the memo field in parenthesis ( i.e (MyTable.MyMemo) ), you will see the text instead of the usual 'Memo'.
As for your second question, you can either try to set the tooltip of the control on the fly to the value of the memo field, or use multi-lines tooltips ( i think there are some here in the UT's Files ).
