In your config.fp place the following code:

tmpfiles=c:\fptemp
sortwork = c:\fptemp
progwork = c:\fptemp
editwork = c:\fptemp

You'll have to create the directory manually. This'll force all temp files into that directory instead of onto your desktop <g>.
