We had similar problems with some roaming user profiles: some users could never start VFP8, on any machine they logged on. Deleting Foxuser.dbf and starting with -a did not fix it.

The network administrator fixed it, but he had delete the users's profiles, on the W2K server and on each W2K and XP workstation (profiles are stored in C:\Documents and settings\UserName). Could be related with the registry.
