It is better to keep them as separate BMP (or JPG) files, and have a field with the filename. Another alternative is to copy into a binary memo field, with FileToStr().

Three problems arise with general fields: 1) It is difficult to get the images out again. 2) They take up much more space, especially when compared with a stand-alone compressed image (JPG or GIF). 3) This space can quickly fill up the 2 GB limit.
