Gary ... would you believe I was cleaning out my Franklin Planner just last week and came across your business card ... I threw many of them away ... yours wasn't among the tossed ;-).

Yessir you are ... I still have yet to experience the pleasure of meeting you face to face ... my preference is over a cool one in an English pub playing darts ... they are in a wooden case just left of my left hand ... just itchin'.

Yep ... he did ... he inferred that a "VFP programmer" did not have the expertise to develop a .NET framework. It was not in this thread though ... also, I don't see him jumping in here to deny it either ... Mr. Schmitz ... do you care to publicly deny this? I'm more than happy to go out and search the threads for the exact message ... and post the ID.

I've made no secret of the fact that there is no love lost between Kevin and myself. However, you'll never see me denigrating (yes, you scared me enough to check the spelling ... limey bastard :-0) the man's work in .NET simply because of his origins in VFP. He does good work ... good enough that I'd use his version of Codebook (and I worked for the company from which the product sprang) ... I hasten to clarify I'm referring to the VFP version of Mere Mortals ... not the .NET version ... from what I can tell so far the .NET version is solely the product of Oakleaf ... not a derivation of another product from a different company.

If Flash had run the source of Codebook as efficiently as Kevin has run it Kevin wouldn't have a codebook version of a framework for VFP ... but then again ... you have to realize that this resulted from the good nature of Alan Griver ... he started Codebook ... he also let the product mature in the hands of those who had the initiative ... without being heavy handed in the copyright ... I love him to this day for that ... Kevin succeeded ... I did not ... G*O*O*D F*O*R K*E*V*I*N A*N*D N*I*C*O*L*E is what I have to say. That exposure to Codebook gave Kevin the seed for his .NET framework. (And I in no way want to slight the man's accomplishments with linking the original Codebook with Kevin's .NET stuff either) ... that is a completely different thing. But like all good authors ... he built on the expertise of those that came before him ... that would be Alan Griver and Paul Bienick ... I always have hated that Paul's name was left out of the main line credentials of that product.

Anyhoooooo ... that's my rant ... take it for what it's worth ... which is exactly what you paid.

Later gaters,

CT
