I've solved the problem and your last comment helped. I can test the display driver issue very easily on my own machine because I use two monitors driven by different graphics cards. As soon as I dragged the app across to the other monitor I realised what the problem was. The Alarm manager window stayed where it was. Why? because it is set "Desktop=.T." The Diary form isn't and nor was the date picker. As soon as I changed the Desktop setting on the date picker the problem went away. It now appears over the top of all screens as it should.
