>Stopping the flow of a user in a grid with a dialog box constantly asking if you want to save or cancel your changes would, in my opinion, greatly impede the users ability to get work done. If data entry errors are created, the user will eventually fix them. If the data entry does require strict editing, I'd be inclined to not use a grid for it.

Steve, this is VERY much a client decision. I have clients who want a prompt whenever they move a mouse (or so it seems), others who want Save and Cancel buttons but want to save automatically if they move to another record, and a few who believe in direct editing, let the user correct a mistake. It's one of the first things I ask, and I go over it MANY times during development.

I DO agree with you about grid editing - validation of grid textboxes can be tricky, particularly with new records.
