You can't have access data from the client from plain HTML.

However on your server, you can:
1- All Browsers
-install IIS & ASP
-create ASP files that use ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) to retreive data
-return plain HTML

2- IE 3 & 4 only
-create an ActiveX Document in VB5
