Source Safe Control
Hi Kenneth:
We just transitioned our shop to Source Safe and while it took some effort to get there I can honestly say that I don't know why I ever programmed without it.
How we set our environment up is as follows:
1. The code respository is of course in VSS, located on a server that gets backed up daily.
2. We maintain local versions on developers hard drives to make things as independant as possible.
3. We define a shadow directory on the LAN from which all builds are created. The cool thing about a shadow directory is that no matter which changes are made where (as long as all developers have checked everything in) the shadow directory maintains the most recent version of all component (.PRG, .FRX, .SCX, etc.).
We like it ... the ability to roll back to a perviously known working version is invaluable.
Hope this helps in some small way.
