US forces were very afraid that turkish troups would commit offenses against the local kurds so they never allowed them to invade northern iraq. stories like this are not uncommon in "war time". if the kurds were upset things on the pr front would be very hard for the us as they were the real hard done by in the last war so for them to be abused this time would not look good.
